New Ubuntu VirtualBox image for SHARE

Hi all,
it seems the Linux images on SHARE are all pretty dated. Would it be ok if I prepare a new image of the current Ubuntu release 12.10 including Java 7, Mono, gcc, Eclipse Indigo, and whatever might be needed?

I recommend you to clone via http://is.ieis.tue.nl/staff/pvgorp/share/?page=RequestMutableVirtualDiskImage&vdi=Ubuntu12LTS.vdi
That VDI is an up-to-date Ubuntu 12.04 (LTS).

Ups, yes, then I'll wait until after the update. I just discarded my request to the Ubuntu 12.04 image. Please PING me when your are done.

Hi Tassilo,
indeed there was an issue with your registration to the OS group. I fixed that. Probably a registration request got lost and then SHARE assumes that the admin does not want to approve and it will also protect against "spam"-like repeated requests.
Anyhow, you should have access to all OS images now. If you wait for some minutes then I will publish an update of the Ubuntu 12.04 image there (one with the latest kernel updates).

Hm, when I want to request a new mutable clone of it, I am told that I need to request access to Operating Systems first. When I do that, I get the message:
This access either is already granted or cannot be granted at all...
Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Tassilo,
there is a Ubuntu 12.04 image in the OS group. Support for 12.10 will be discontinued medio 2014 while support for 12.04 will be continued until medio 2017 [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LTS]. Would it make sense for you to work with 12.04?
